Tribute to Whitney Houston (August 9, 1963 - February 11, 2012)

We are saddened by the loss of one the most talented entertainers of all time to grace the stage and screen. Her career in music and film were a testimony to her boundless talent. She was adored by millions of fans around world and will be sorely missed.

Houston was also known as a consummate humanitarian, forming the Whitney Houston Foundation for Children, an organization that cared for the homeless and children with cancer and AIDS.

In 1983, at age 20, Houston signed a recording contract with Arista Records and began recording music for her self-titled debut album, released in February 1985. The album spent fourteen weeks at number one on the Billboard 200; a record for the most weeks at the top spot by a female artist in the 1980s.... and the rest, as they say, is history.
